About Us:
College Park Elementary School is nestled amid an older residential neighborhood in the middle of the City of Irvine. Spanish style homes with red tile roofs and stucco walls stretch toward the major freeways of Interstate 5 and Interstate 405, (Yahoo! MAP) that deliver commuters home nightly to this "bedroom community." Our school was built as one large square, with all classrooms open spaced and with limited walls separating them. We are fortunate to have a large multi-purpose room, outside lunch area, paved play and walk areas, grassy fields and adjacent to a community park. Our total facility covers a little over 12 acres.
College Park Elementary is one of the oldest schools in the Irvine Unified School District. We recently celebrated our twenty-fifth anniversary this school year. The Irvine Unified School District serves over 25,000 students from a wide variety of ethnic and socioeconomic groups. The city borders encompass such diverse elements as the University of California, numerous high technology industries, and commercial farms. Our school population reflects a student body composed of 45% Asian Americans, 45% Anglo Americans, 6% Hispanic Americans, 2% Afro Americans and 2% Native Americans, unlike many of the other schools in Irvine.
College Park houses approximately 625 students in kindergarten through sixth grade and is growing as new communities are built in Irvine. Many of our parents bring their children to school. There are over 31 different languages spoken. We were the first school to offer an English Language Learners (ELL) Magnet Program and now have 65 students enrolled in that program from all over the district. We have 23 students in the RSP program, and 42 students in our Speech and Language Program.
