About Us
The Community Food Bank of the Upstate is...
-A nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing hunger and minimizing food waste in the upstate of South Carolina. Since its inception 1982, the food bank has been soliciting donations of nutritious surplus food from the food industry and distributing these products to over 250 certified nonprofit agencies who share the cost through a shared maintenance fee.
-A community based organization under local control with a volunteer board of directors. Food is donated and distributed locally. The food bank helps to keep the food in our local area where it is needed.
-Dedicated to helping those who need a hand, not a hand out.
-Educating the public about the nature of solutions to the problems of hunger.
