Mission Statement: We bring together people and resources of Wayne County to provide a daily meal for those who are hungry. Each person is welcomed with understanding, dignity and without obligation. Over three decades ago, a group of interested people came together to start a Soup Kitchen in response to a recognized need in our community. That need is to feed the hungry. The Soup Kitchen routinely prepares 45,000 meals a year. Meals are prepared six days a week. This effort involves over 7,250 volunteer hours a year. It takes $300.00 per day at the Soup Kitchen. Support comes from cash contributions, food and paper-ware donations, and volunteers who are utilized and appreciated. Monthly expenses fall between $7,000 and $8,000. The Community Soup Kitchen is a 501 ( c ) 3, non-profit organization which makes contributions tax deductible.
