Statement of Faith

At Cornerstone Church of Ione, we recognize that life is a series of sovereign events, some easy and some with measures of pain. Yet for us, Christ is a living reality and not just a page in history. He proves to be a deep river of love, compassion, and strength that continually flows through every circumstance of life. Christ makes all the difference in our lives and we strive to make these beliefs real through our daily walk. In Matthew, Chapter twenty-two and verse thirty-nine He says, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." We hope that you allow us to complete this promise in you.

We believe that there is one God, the Creator of all things, eternally existing, and revealing Himself to us in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, is God in the flesh, fully God and fully man.

We believe that the Bible is the word of God, fully and verbally inspired by God through human authors. We regard it as an accurate, absolute authority in all matters of doctrine and practice.

We believe that every person is a sinner by nature, because of Adam's sin, and that sin has marred all aspects of man's personality

We believe in the reality of Hell as a place of eternal judgment, and as an expression of God's wrath toward all sin.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only solution to the sin problem, and through Him alone can man be reconciled to God.

We believe that Christ died as our substitute, making an atonement for our sins with his blood.

We believe that Jesus was raised from the dead bodily and visibly, and ascended to the right hand of God in Heaven.

We believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace, and that men are justified by faith alone in the person and work of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Such faith is the basis for the new birth.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person who indwells every believer, and imparts spiritual gifts to the body of Christ.

We believe that there is a bodily resurrection unto everlasting life for those who believe, and a bodily resurrection unto eternal punishment for the unsaved.

We believe that Satan is a real person who controls the world system, in opposition to God and His righteousness.

We believe in the personal, visible, and pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth.

We believe that the church is the body and bride of Christ, over which Christ is the head.

We believe in the independent, self-government of the local church.

We believe that Christians are called to a holy walk as priests and servants of the Lord.

We believe in the eternal security of every true Christian.

We believe that there are only two ordinances for the church: baptism by immersion, and the celebration of the Lord's Table.
