Listening to the voice of God and anointed by his Spirit, we want to be the Body of Christ. A missionary parish that goes forth to discover the face of the Lord in humanity, embracing it as a family and inviting it to live the Kingdom of God.

History:

Corpus Christi Parish was founded in 1941. Archbishop Joseph P. Hurley appointed Fr. Francis Finnegan to be its first pastor. The first Eucharist was celebrated in the Strand Theatre on December 14, 1941, one week after Pearl Harbor. The rectory was originally Mango Manor---a Miami pioneering and horticultural landmark constructed when the area around it was largely a mangrove swamp.

After five years of planning, fund raising and construction, a large church-school combination and a convent were completed in 1947. The Architects were Steward and Skinner. Frank J. Rooney, a member of the parish, was a builder. This was not an easy task due to the shortage of building materials during the post WWII building boom. In 1958 one of the parishioners, Thomas J. Madden Jr., was hired for the designing of the Church; Edward Garrits was the builder. The building was completed that year; the Church was dedicated on February 8, 1959.

Corpus Christi is best remembered for the famous carving of Christ over the altar, one of the few works of late Yugoslavian sculptor, Ivan Mestrovic.
