HISTORY:
Covenant Community began in 1999 when church planter Billy Barnes and his wife Anita moved from Birmingham, AL to Scottsdale and gathered a small group of Christians who together sought a more relational and deeply rooted expression of the Christian faith for the good of the Scottsdale/Phoenix metro area. As our faith community grew we moved to our present location in 2004. As our ministry reach expanded, we have added several assistant and associate pastors, including Director of Outreach Phil Hunter in 2008, and Executive Pastor Joshua Creason in 2011. The next chapter in our story began in July 2014 when we called Andrew Graham to be our next Lead Pastor, continuing and renewing our purpose to be a church for the city, partnering with God in the work that is already being done here. We invite you, whether you are spiritually skeptical, curious about Christianity, or a committed follower of Jesus Christ, to discover more about our aspirations, how to get connected, and the times of our services and ministries.
Covenant Community wholeheartedly embraces the historic Christian faith expressed in all the ecumenical creeds of the universal church (e.g., the Apostle’s and Nicene Creeds). We are also committed to the theological heritage of the Protestant Reformation as a member church of the Presbyterian Church in America, a family of 1,800 congregations nationwide, with particular emphasis in holistic city center ministry and intellectually and relationally credible outreach to the rising generation on over 130 college and university campuses.
