Our Mission
Crawford county schools are a partnership of staff, students, parents and community. Our Mission is to provide a comprehensive quality educational program enabling students to become successful lifelong learners and contributors to society.
About Us
Our school district is nestled in beautiful south central Indiana on the Ohio River covering all 312 square miles of Crawford County and a small portion of Harrison County. Our school system offers a comprehensive educational program for all of our students in a rural, conservative, small school setting. We operate five elementary schools. Patoka Elementary is located at Taswell, near Patoka Lake. English Elementary is located in the town of English, the county seat for Crawford County. Marengo Elementary is located at Marengo, close to the world famous Marengo Cave Park. Milltown Elementary is located at Milltown, famous for scenic canoe trips along Blue River. Leavenworth Elementary is located in the southern end of our county in the town of Leavenworth, noted for breathtaking views of the Ohio River. Each of these elementary schools serves students in grades K-6. Students in grades 7-12 attend Crawford County Jr-Sr High School located on SR 66 south of Marengo.
Throughout its history, the Crawford County community has given outstanding support to its local community schools. In 1996, the community approved an extensive building and renovation project of all five elementary schools. Each of those schools are equipped with the latest in technology and offer a good educational foundation for elementary age children. The community highly values the small school, personalized approach afforded each and every child. Civic groups, parent and church organizations, and our active community foundation contribute to the family-like atmospheres at all our schools.
