Crestwood Elementary School opened in August 1968 in the middle of a cow pasture. The office staff, led by the first administrator, Mr. Robert Deen, had a special code over the intercom to let the faculty know when they shouldn't take their classes outside because the cows were loose. The first logo was the Crestwood Superkids. Navy blue and white uniforms were introduced in 1990, reflecting the school colors. In May 1992 the logo was changed to the lions. Fifteen new classrooms were completed in 2000. In 2003, two new buildings of ten classrooms each were added to the campus. A five-million dollar renovation to the 1968 original building was completed in November 2008. After ten years of fundraising, the new covered pavilion was completed in April, 2009.
