About
We are located in Cuba, New Mexico which is a popular stop for travelers on US 550, a major highway connecting central New Mexico with the Four Corners region. Cuba is part of Sandoval County and is at the base of the west facing slope of the Nacimiento Mountain Range. It is a popular spot for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.
Student enrollment is just under 550 students. The district has 3 schools: one elementary school (grades pre-K-5), one middle school (grades 6-8), one high school (grades 9-12).
Cuba Independent Schools has been fortunate to have the support of the community when it comes to school improvement and new building projects. In the past few years, the district has completed several construction projects including the remodeling and renovation of Cuba Middle School, the new construction of a Vocational Building, the new construction of a gymnasium for Cuba Middle School, the new construction of four teacher housing units, and the renovation of Cuba Elementary School. The most recent project that was just completed is the renovation of the Cuba Swimming Pool and the construction of a new Field House/Concession Building.
