Education in Desert Sky Middle Schoolwill provide relevant learning opportunities within a flexible andinnovative environment for children and adults that will effectivelyensure them the skills necessary to be life-long learners andproductive citizens.

About Us

Desert Sky Middle School is one of several middle schools in the Deer Valley Unified School District and is located northwest of Phoenix. The population of the area includes middle and lower income level families who reside in apartments and single family dwellings. Student enrollment is about 1,000. One-third of the students walk or ride bicycles to school while the remainder ride school buses.

Desert Sky Middle School is a phenomenon that is admired across the nation and described in middle level and effective school literature. Visitors to the campus marvel at the spirit of collegiality and productivity. That spirit, which we call Thunderbolt Pride, is the driving force behind all that happens on campus. Teachers, support staff, students and the administration work diligently to assure that Desert Sky is an exceptional place for learning, teaching and working.

Students are part of this decision-making process and learn from these experiences. The sense of everyone pulling together for the common good of student learning has improved the quality of the day at Desert Sky. Computers are in all classrooms for student use. The media centerand the computer lab have improved technology on the campus. Desert Sky is educating students so they can comprehend, cope with and direct the technology in their lives.
