Dig Deep started as one familys idea for a way to inspire teenagers to learn the value of giving something back to their community and helping people in need. Dig Deep therefore has a twofold mission to build character in young people and to help serve our communities. To accomplish these goals, Dig Deep seeks to mobilize Connecticut high school students to help others in need, promote healthy lifestyles, and build community. It tries to serve the greater good at the local level by raising money for tax-exempt organizations that support healthy lifestyles, build community, combat disease, and bring balance to people's lives physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Dig Deep is unique because it involves teens who don't normally volunteer their time and energy for service in their community, as well as those who do it regularly. There are many existing organizations that young people can volunteer for, but we thought it might inspire more of those who typically don't get involved to do so if they felt they had some ownership and a role in developing a new organization. To date we have organized an all-night 100 Inning Baseball Game and we are currently organizing a Dodgeball Tournament.
