Dorchester General Hospital is a 38-bed adult medical/surgical community hospital, providing 24-hour emergency services. The hospital's primary service area is Dorchester County; its secondary service area includes Caroline and Talbot counties. The Dorchester General Hospital Emergency Department handles over 18,000 visits a year. Inpatient services include medical, surgical, gynecological, orthopedic, acute rehabilitation and critical care. The hospital also has a 16-bed adult behavioral health inpatient unit, which provides acute psychiatric care for patients from the Mid-Shore region and the lower counties of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Dorchester General Hospital provides a full-array of diagnostic and therapeutic services, including same day surgery, endoscopy and lab testing. Diagnostic imaging services include digital mammography, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine as well as cardiovascular and pulmonary testing.

Dorchester General Hospital operates a Center for Cardio-Pulmonary Fitness and Wellness. Shore Health System's Comprehensive Rehabilitation Care operates the region's only Balance Center at Dorchester General Hospital. This specialty service is staffed by physical therapists, who diagnose and treat balance disorders. The hospital conducts overnight sleep studies at the Dorchester General Hospital Sleep Center.

Maryland ExpressCare Transport, a service provided in partnership with the University of Maryland Medical System, provides ambulance and helicopter transport from Memorial Hospital and Dorchester General Hospital to tertiary healthcare facilities.
