History:

From the very beginning, Dow Baptist Church has been a "people" church. This means that many people have been faithful in playing a prominent role in the church's work and growth. The Church had its beginning on January 22, 1967 as twenty-two people met in a small frame house for the first worship service. North Alton Baptist Church sponsored the work and Kenneth Wigger served as the mission's first pastor until October 1967.

In July 1968, Allen Richards was called as pastor. That same month the church moved out of the now outgrown rented house into the Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A bus was purchased soon after the move to provide additional Sunday School Space.Dow Baptist was organized into a church on May 17,1970. One year later, a ground breaking ceremony was held at the lot purchased in 1967. The church moved into the newly built basement sanctuary in February 1973.
