The Dumont Volunteer Fire Department protects approximately 18,000 residents of the borough of Dumont, located in Bergen County, NJ. The fire department consists of four independent fire companies that make up the Dumont Volunteer Fire Department. Each company can hold up to 20 members on their roster and is 100% volunteer. The borough of Dumont is located in the northeast part of New Jersey and is approximately 10 miles west of the George Washington Bridge. The fire department responds to about 500 calls annually. The borough of Dumont consists of single family homes, apartment’s buildings, multiple family dwellings, commercial structures, strip malls, supermarkets, senior housing, and various businesses located throughout. The CSX railroad splits the town in half (Eastside and Westside).
