Dyersburg is a community located in Dyer Co., in the northwestern part of Tennessee. The Dyersburg City School System has a reputation of providing a quality education for the children of the Dyersburg/Dyer County community for the past 165 years. Since the first small, log schoolhouse was built on College Hill in 1833, our system has grown to now include Dyersburg Primary School for grades K-2, Dyersburg Intermediate School for grades 3-5, Dyersburg Middle School for grades 6-8, Dyersburg High School for grades 9-12, and the Community Resource Center. The fact that all of the schools in the Dyersburg City School System are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools exemplifies our use of national benchmarks to improve the quality of education for students at all grade levels.
The school system employs over 400 persons, with 251 of that number being classroom teachers. All teachers are licensed by the Tennessee Department of Education. In addition, 57 percent of our teachers have achieved their master's and/or doctorate degrees.

Through its varied programs and activities Dyersburg City Schools provide opportunities for all students to experience success. The needs of every student are met by providing programs such as special education, talented/gifted, Chapter I Math and Reading, before and after school homework help, Accelerated Reading, clubs, intermediate level intramurals, before and after school child care, vocational/technical education, transportation for all students, art, music, and physical education at all levels. At Dyersburg High School all fifteen sports that are sanctioned by the TSSAA are offered.

The Dyersburg City Schools' cafeterias participate in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Offer vs Serve Program. Our system has the largest restaurant in town, serving an average of 2301 for lunch and 559 for breakfast each day. We hope you enjoy your visit and will come back often.
