The Educational Foundation of the Chesters, Inc. was incorporated on September 23, 1991 to enrich and/or preserve quality education for the children of the Chester Township Public Schools. For reasons unknown to the present Trustees, the Foundation became dormant in early 1995.
Realizing that many Chester residents were taxed out, a group of concerned citizens organized in the Spring of 1998 to resurrect the Foundation. The following Mission Statement was adopted: To enhance the quality and breadth of education in the Chester Township Public Schools by obtaining funding from a variety of sources to provide students, teachers, and administrators with opportunities to develop and maintain innovative programs that will enrich the learning experiences of all Chester students to encourage them to reach their fullest potential in a rapidly changing world.
The Foundation is an IRS qualified 501 (c) (3) public foundation. This means that all donations to the Foundation are fully tax deductible and the Foundation does not pay any taxes. The Foundation is also a registered charity with the State of New Jersey and is a qualified recipient with many local United Way agencies and other corporate giving programs. Each year the books and records of the Foundation are audited by a Certified Public Accounting firm. The audited reports, as well as the Foundation's IRS Exemption Letter, are available for public inspection upon reasonable request.
