How Did We Get Started?
Faith Community Church by the Sea (founded in 1996) is a daughter church of Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, California. Emmanuel Faith has a 55 year tradition of teaching the Bible and applying the truths of scripture to the needs of daily living. Faith Community is now well on her way to doing the same and following in the strong footsteps of the church who founded her.
What Kind of Church Are We?
We are a worshiping church. We value God. It’s our desire to worship the Lord individually throughout the week and corporately on Sunday morning and in our mid-week activities. We do this through singing, through the preaching of the Word, through giving, through dramas and musicals, through personal quiet times (devotional life) and through a commitment to total obedience to God.
Romans 12:1 says, "And so, dear Christian friends, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind he will accept." We believe worship is more than just what happens at church on Sunday morning. We believe we worship the Lord by how we work, by how we treat people, by how we conduct ourselves Monday through Saturday. We are a church that has committed itself to worshiping God wholeheartedly on a minute-by-minute basis.
We are Bible church. We value the Bible. What does that mean practically? It means we believe the Bible to be the inerrant and infallible Word of God to people.
It means we believe the Bible has the answers to life’s most important questions - Who am I? How did I get here? What am I supposed to do while I am here? What happens to me when I die? - and provides insight and wisdom that is essential to living a successful life (Joshua 1:8, "Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed." Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.")
This belief colors the way we approach God’s Word on Sunday morning and in our various ministries which meet throughout the week. Rather than watering down the Bible’s hope-full message, we proclaim it and explain it, seeking to applying God’s unchanging principles to the real issues of life that hit us every day.
We encourage and seek to assist every person to meet God in His word on his/her own. We believe God still speaks through His word to those who are listening.
We are a community church. We value people. We believe God has called us to minister to the many people who live on the coast and along the coastal corridor. As such, we are constantly seeking to be relevant to the coastal culture while staying true to the Word of God. We want to be a place where all people feel comfortable coming to worship the Living Lord who longs to have relationship with them.
We have a dual focus of "Presenting Faith in God to People and People of Faith to God."
