First Baptist Church, an American Baptist Church, is a community of followers of Jesus Christ. As followers we will nurture and strengthen one another in our walk with Christ. We reach out to a diverse community through an atmosphere of acceptance, encouragement, and affirmation. Our ministries will be open to change through the leading of the Holy Spirit. We will use our resources to build programming and facilities that lead people to a growing relationship with Christ in service, and in a loving relationship with one another.

We believe

In a personal God who listens and responds to prayer.

That Jesus Christ is a perfect example of God's love and compassion. He loved us so much that he died on our behalf.

That a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as "Lord" will dramatically change one's life.

In religious freedom. No person can tell another what to believe or how she or he must relate to God. Every person is free to study the Scriptures and seek God's personal guidance.

That we should meet regularly as a church to worship and seek God's guidance through prayer and biblical study. No person or organization can dictate to a church what it must believe and do.

In worldwide service and mission. We care for the needy, the weak, the impoverished through hundreds of missionaries, schools, colleges, nursing homes and hospitals, retirement centers, Christian training center, etc.
