Our Vision
At First Baptist Church, Rogers our heart's desire is to impact the entire Rogers community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In all our gatherings, we want to encourage an atmosphere where the presence and power of the Lord are felt and where people are encouraged and equipped to give God "First Place" in their lives!
History
First Baptist Church, Rogers, Texas was organized in May, 1890 with three charter members and a preacher, Rev. W.A. Barclay. The original name was The Missionary Baptist Church of Rogers and the original meeting site was on the East side of town. Services were held half-time in those days, but in 1906 the church began meeting full time. In 1914 the meeting site was moved to the west side of town, on a lot across the street from the Rogers Public School.
The church building burned in 1925. The church decided to rebuild on a lot across the street from the present location. A basement was constructed in 1925 as the lower story of a planned two story brick structure. This basement was the church's meeting place until a new auditorium with classrooms was built in 1949. A new education building was constructed in 1962 and the old basement was wrecked and the lot was prepared for parking space. The present Sanctuary was built and dedicated in 1983.
Today F.B.C., Rogers is a thriving church with over five hundred members. We are currently involved in our "Bridge to Tomorrow" Building Program. This growth oriented effort will feature a new Youth/Childrens Activity Building, new parking, and other improvements and renovations to our existing facilities.
Through nearly one hundred and fourteen years of ministry for the Lord Jesus Christ and His Kingdom, F.B.C., Rogers has sought to live up to her original name "Missionary" by carrying on an evangelistic ministry in her community and cooperating in associational and world-wide missionary endeavors. The church continues to stand as an abiding witness and a lighthouse shining the light of Christ's love into the darkness for all to see.
