We are located in the village of Saugerties, New York. Saugerties is on the Hudson River about 100 miles north of New York City. We are one of, I would guess, 7 main-line denominations in the village. There are also a couple non-denominations churches that are located in or around Saugerties.
On most Sundays we have around 20 â“ 25 in attendance for our Sunday Morning Worship Services. Over recent years we have experienced many of the same problems that most of the main line churches have had to deal with. Simply stated, A lot more people use to attend, and be active in their churches than are today. There are many things in todayâ' s society that are competing with church activities on any Sunday morning.
If asked to describe our congregation I would have to say that a lot of our active members have been members of the church for 25 â“ 30 years or longer. Yet, we do have an active Sunday School program and we are once again starting to see more families and younger individual taking a more active role in our church. This is a trend that we need to work hard to keep happening.
