George and Helen Winter started planting seedlings on this farm in 1974.

They had previously sold Christmas trees on several lots in the Essex Middle River area for many years. George thought it would be nice hobby. As the trees grew so did the work. George would always tell people his hobby got away from him and turned into a full time job. They opened the farm to the public in 1981 as a choose and cut tree farm. They named the farm Frostee Tree farm.

The name Frostee actually came from other business that the Winter's had established. They began with a Frostee ice cream truck which turned into a fleet of Frostee snowball trucks. Dealing with the snowball trucks lead George into the used truck business which he called Frostee Motors. The name Frostee was perfect for the farm. The name Frostee was associated with the Winter's so much that instead of George and Helen, they become known as Frostee and Miss Frostee. Helen always remarks that at 80 years old they still call her Miss Frostee no matter where they see here.

George and Helen ran both business, Frostee Motors and FrosteeTree Farm until George Winters passing in 2005. Paul Stiffler would take time from his business, Stifflers Service Center to help George and Helen with the farm. Helen passed away in November 2010 now Paul Stiffler will continue the business. Paul Stiffler is also donating 10% of the sales to the Huntsman Cancer Research Foundation in memory of George and Helen and his many customers from both of his businesses that have been brought down by this terrible disease.

Frostee Tree Farm opens for choose and cut tree sales starting Nov 28 and is open every Fiday Saturday and Sunday until Christmas. Hours 8:00 AM till dark
