Giving Heart of America is a faith-based organization. What does that mean?

To many people, faith refers to some kind of passive belief in a "higher power." The idea is that belief in the higher power doesn't really accomplish anything directly, but that the focus on something outside ourselves is beneficial. Thus, a "faith-based" approach can yield greater benefits than a more traditional, purely secular approach.

That is not the Giving Heart of America meaning of "faith-based." To us, faith is infinitely more real, more personal, more powerful, and more essential to life.

Webster defines FAITH as follows: "Belief and trust in and loyalty to God, or belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion."

The Bible defines FAITH a bit more mysteriously: "Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen." (Hebrews 11:1)

The reach and breadth and depth of the two definitions are as different as night and day. A full grasp of the biblical definition is not possible in this world. But it flowers and grows over time as faith - real faith - is applied over a lifetime. At Giving Heart of America, we humbly acknowledge that our ministry of helping people in need is driven by the reality of what is hoped for, and the proof of what is not seen.
