History:
In the fall of 1883 the Grain Valley Christian Church was organized with eight charter members. Brother Jarrett, a minister from Pleasant Hill, Missouri met with this group. Worship services were held in the old Capelle school, north of Grain Valley
In July 1960, the congregation voted to purchase the Shippy property west of the Church, and the Ryan property south of the Shippy property. They also voted to make an addition to the west end of the present building and rebuild the sanctuary. This project was taken in two phases. The purchase of additional property and the addition onto the property was the first phase, and  was completed in the fall of 1960. The sanctuary rebuilding started in the early spring 1964 and was dedicated on June 28, 1964
