About Us:

  • Grand Cane Baptist Church is a body of believers committed to glorifying God and furthering His Kingdom.
  • As our purpose statement describes, it is our goal to meet people where they are, no matter their walk in life, and point them towards Jesus.
  • We are a church striving to move forward in our relationship with Christ, as individuals and as a body.
  •  Our prayer is that we are constantly taking steps toward becoming a lighthouse for our community and positively influencing our community for Christ.
  • Through worship celebrations, Bible study groups, discipleship groups, and service, we pray that every member of the body continually grows as true disciples of Christ.
  • EXPERIENCE THE LORD at Grand Cane Baptist Church.

History:

Grand Cane Baptist Church was constituted in 1855 with a reported 100 members.  By 1882, the church was meeting in Mrs. Davidson's home.  A house of worship was desparately needed resulting in the building of a church in 1883 with ten members on the role.

An annex was completed in 1956 to house an office, a bathroom, a baptistry, and Sunday School rooms.

Thirty years passed and in 1985, Dr. Walter Platt donated land to build another annex to house a kitchen more restrooms, more Sunday School classes, and a large meeting room known as the Fellowship Hall.

Twelve years later, the need for a larger sanctuary was evident.  The wonderfully historical original sanctuary was blended with a new sanctuary in 1997.

A Family Life Center across Fifth Street was added in 2007 with a gym, kitchen, church parlor, and more classrooms in recent years - providing a wonderful place for Sunday night Connect services, banquets, Vacation Bible School, and other events - such as our annual rummage sale that benefits missions.

The former Fellowship Hall has been renovated into a nursery and kid's classrooms area - known as KIDZONE.  The nursery is located in this area.

Recently redecorated office space brightens up the day for Amy and the Pastors.

The WMU ladies donated money - which has been used to decorate a Church Parlor in the FLC for bridal and baby showers, classes, private counseling, and various meetings in a home-like atmosphere.
