About Us :
Granger Elementary is the newest elementary in our district, but it is located in the oldest school building within our district. Granger became Highland’s third elementary school when it opened to students in preschool – fifth grades in September of 2004. Before that, it was Highland Middle School, and before that, it was the original Highland High School. The building was originally constructed in 1929 to serve the students of Granger Township.
There are currently 480 students in the school. Granger is also equipped to serve students with special needs. It houses the Highland preschool program, the district’s moderate/intensive resource room and mild/moderate resource room.
Granger Elementary has an active PTO organization and a network of parent volunteers who help in the classrooms. The school has several extracurricular programs for students including a band and choir. There is also leadership group involving all members of the fifth grade class. These students organized the holiday food drives, ran the mock presidential election and broadcast the morning announcements. They serve as examples to the younger students
