Mission Statement
The mission of the Guadalupe Appraisal District is: to carry out our appraisal responsibilities in a fair and efficient manner; to welcome and encourage property owner participation; to provide full and unobstructed access to public information; and through our actions, demonstrate concern for our community and fellow citizens.
Purpose Statement
The Guadalupe Appraisal Districts' primary responsibilities include: the discovery and listing of all taxable property into the appraisal records; appraisal of all property at market value; administer exemptions and special use valuations; keep and provide access to public records; and educate the public on the Texas property tax system in general.
Appraisal District Profile
Appraisal Districts were created as a central location for appraisal information and services. They are political subdivisions of the state, whose organization and responsibilities are defined in the Texas Property Tax Code. Appraisal Districts are funded by the entities they serve.
The Guadalupe Appraisal District provides appraisal services to 11 taxing entities. Our area includes all of Guadalupe County and parts of Bexar and Comal Counties with a total parcel count of approximately 72,000. Our District is currently staffed with 26 employees.
The Guadalupe Appraisal District does not determine tax levies. The governing bodies of the taxing entities, such as the city councils, school boards, and county commissioners adopt annual budgets and set tax rates, which determine the tax levy. Inquiries relating to budgets, spending, or rates should be directed to those entities (see Related Links).
In Guadalupe County, the County Tax Assessor / Collector calculates the levy, mails tax statements, collects the taxes, and distributes tax revenue to the taxing entities. Inquiries concerning tax collection or payments should be directed to this office (see Related Links).
