Our History:

In 1995 while conducting a door to door food ministry, a Stockbridge Janet Turner, encountered many individuals in need of basic medical and dental care.  She set about to organize a group of caring county citizens and organizations to plan, implement and raise funds to start Henry County's first and only free medical clinic. 

In August 2004, Hands of Hope Clinic saw its first patient in the fellowship hall of McDonough Presbyterian Church.  And now located on the campus of Henry Medical Center, Hands of Hope Clinic is staffed with an Executive Director and three paid employees.

HOHC operates out of a clinic space donated by Henry Medical Center, and holds medical clinics three days weekly and an emergency care dental clinic one day weekly. Most importantly, over 60 doctors, dentists, nurses and other ancillary medical and non-medical volunteers lend their time, expertise and financial support in providing basic medical and dental care to those in need. The dental program addresses urgent dental problems, such as pain and infection.

Hands of Hope Clinic estimates that it has helped more than 2,750 individuals, resulting in close to 11,000 patient visits.  Many thanks go to Henry Medical Center for their support of the Clinic and its patients. Because of its efforts and with help from Henry Medical Center who provides diagnostic procedures and access to surgical capabilities and many other treatments and interventions, there is no doubt that many lives have been spared because cancers were diagnosed early, critical procedures or specialty consultations were arranged, and patients were able to secure essential medications to treat chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.

Hands of Hope Clinic provides hope to many who otherwise would have none.  Not only does Hands of Hope Clinic make our community a better place, it says a lot about the people who live here.
