History
The construction of the church sanctuary began as an act of love in 1866, by John J. Harris, for his wife, a devout christian Sunday school teacher who had dreamed of having her own church.
Through the years, the building was associated with a number of larger churches until 1947, when the congregation voted to incorporate as the "Harrisena Community Church".
In 1969, the Reverend LaMont Robinson became minister. Many new programs were instituted and eventually, a new education building was constructed and dedicated as "The Harrisena Education & Community Center". The HECC building is now home to a number of small organizations and special groups who utilize the church's facilities throughout the year.
