A vibrant and exciting new school is coming to the North Shore! Blending virtual online classes with face-to-face, hands-on project-based learning, Hawaii Active Learning Academy will bring the best of both learning models to the under-served rural areas of Hawaii, starting with the North Shore of Oahu and expanding to include similar populations on all of the Neighbor Islands.

This effort is being spearheaded by a group of parents, educators and other concerned adults who have formed an Interim Local School Board to formalize the curriculum, policies, organizational structure, educational plan, and fiscal budget for the proposed school. As an initial step in the charter school application process, the ILSB has submitted a Detailed Implementation Plan to the State Charter School Review Panel.
