The Hebron Historical Society was founded in 1966. Society members have been active over the years in maintaining the Old Town Hall and the Burrows Hill School House, and we are the owner of record for both historic buildings.

We are also actively involved in the current restoration efforts for the Gull School House (located next to the Hebron Town Office Building, and owned by the Town of Hebron), and are also working with the Town to identify the best use of and restoration requirements for the mid-18th century Peters House, located on East Street.

The Society's mission is to preserve Hebron history and historical artifacts, provide community programs, document and publish historical events that have influenced our community, and to raise sufficient funds to operate independently. We work cooperatively with other boards, commissions and community organizations to further our goals. We also host six speakers per year, usually in the months of September, October, November, February, April, and May. Response to the speakers has been overwhelming; the events range from Katie Hill's one-woman shows on Irish immigration in New England, to care and preservation of quilts, to Connecticut baseball, and even the age-old tradition of ice-cutting.
