About Us:
The Hol-Field Rod and Gun Club was first established in 1946 by a group of gentlemen who appreciated the outdoors, were avid sportsmen, and wished to enjoy the camaraderie of a social club. Many of these founding members where war veterans, who wished to maintain their firearm skills. These community members from East Bloomfield and the then Village of Holcomb joined together to form the Hol-Field Rod and Gun Club. The existing barn on a small parcel of approximately 12 acres of land was remodeled, and a Trap field was put in place for their shooting pleasure. The socialization held at the clubhouse, and the ability to find other hunting and fishing partners allowed this club to be born.
Over the next decade, more land was purchased and a rifle range was also erected. Additional trap fields and skeet fields were built. As membership grew, so did the clubhouse.
Although, as with so many clubs, membership has waxed and waned over the years, Hol-Field has now evolved into a much larger organization. At this time Hol-Field offers three trap fields, with 2 being able to offer handicap targets, and one field capable of throwing doubles. There are 2 regulation skeet fields available, as well as a 100 yard rifle range. Our land size has more than tripled, with Hol-Field now owning 50+ acres. Many shooting events are held every year including in-house Winter and Summer leagues as well as traveling leagues with other area club shooters visiting our club. Additionally, the camaraderie of the members has been every present with several social events held each year, including a large community chicken BBQ each summer.
Our members are proud of the accomplishments made over the years. We actively support Hunter Safety classes, and the sport of target shooting. We remain active with the DEC in updates regarding wildlife hunting and fishing regulations. We give back to the community in the form of a Wildlife Scholarship each year to a Bloomfield Senior, and money and safe shooting information to the local Boy Scouts. At the same time, we try to keep the community spirit alive in our social endeavors. We encourage you to visit us at 2857 Whalen Road in Bloomfield.
