Mission:
The mission of Holy Cross Catholic School is to educate tomorrow’s Christian leaders by fostering Academic Excellence in a Christian Community.
History:
Holy Cross Catholic School in Marine City, Michigan was founded in 1869 and has served the Catholic population of Marine City for over 134 years. The present elementary building was built in 1960. In 1990 a new activity center containing a full size gymnasium and cafeteria/kitchen was added. In 2001 the students were able to move into the new Fine Arts Center which houses Art, Music, and an up to date Media Center. We are now in the process of renovating a classroom into a modern science lab
Philosophy:
Holy Cross Catholic School believes in the educational mission of the Church and the Archdiocese of Detroit as defined by the Catholic Bishops “to impart Christ’s message, to build community and to serve as we are called.”
We believe that we are part of the larger, Christian, Catholic believing community which must work together to serve the needs of society.
We believe that it is within this community that each child grows and develops through shared spiritual values, open and honest communication, reverence and respect for each person.
We believe that the role of education is to foster a love of learning, life, family, and country.
We believe that a truly Catholic education embraces the plurality of cultures and creeds as a wonder of God’s creation.
We believe that a strong component of the educational process is the shared responsibility of parents, staff, administration, parishioners, community, and students working together to achieve their goals.
We believe in the creative development of each child through exposure to a variety of experiences.
We believe in the strength of character of each child and that every child will learn.
We believe that a Catholic education is an inherent right of our children and everything possible must be done to continue to provide that education in our community.
