At Hornell First Baptist we are building up the body of Christ one believer at a time, daily equipping the people through prayer, worship, fellowship, activities, missions, outreach, and scripture study.
First Baptist Church was established in what was then known as Hornellsville, a bustling village on the Erie Railroad line, in 1853 by the Rev. Thomas Sheardown, an English Baptist missionary.
The property on which the church stands was purchased in 1856. The current sanctuary was built and dedicated in 1963, the education wing in 1928.
As part of the American Baptist Churches USA family (ABC-USA), Hornell First Baptist is also related to the American Baptist Churches of New York State.
