The above patch was originally designed by Officer Mike Comella, this was the department's first patch and was put in place during the 1960's. This patch was used until 1990. The funds to purchase the patch for all uniforms was donated by Huntsville National Bank.


History
The current patch was designed in 1990 by a committee of our officers. This design is both unique and symbolic for the City of Huntsville. Texas is depicted in Bearkat Orange symbolizing Sam Houston Sate University. The green star symbolizes the City of Huntsville and the green pine tree stands tall like those growing abundantly in Huntsville. The center of the circle is symbolic of the significant impact that General Sam Houston had on the development and growth of the City of Huntsville and the State of Texas.
