About Us
Jefferson Elementary is Saint Louis Public Schools only arts-integrated school. As a pilot school for arts-integration, Jefferson uses the arts to teach the core curriculum, resulting in students studying dance, drama, music, visual art, and creative writing while they learn math, science, social studies, and reading/writing. An education rich in arts experiences has been proven to be linked to higher graduation rates, less absences and behavioral/discipline issues, improved test scores, and greater confidence and critical thinking skills. Through the arts, Jefferson students are learning to problem solve, exercise their imaginations and creativity, express themselves, and perform other valuable 21st century skills.
