The Jonesborough Genealogical Society was formed to:

Develop an outstanding genealogical and historical research center as a section of the Washington County-Jonesborough Library.

Promote the collection and preservation of all records pertaining to Upper East Tennessee with special emphasis on Jonesborough and African-American families.

Promote the exchange of data and serve as a network center for bringing together those with common interests.

Instruction members in the techniques of genealogical research.
