The mission of the City of Keene Fire Department is to provide the highest level of service to protect the lives, property and the environment through: Life Safety, Prevention and Inspection services, Efficient and effective response to ALL calls for assistance including fire, medical, rescue and hazardous materials emergencies and other natural and man-made disasters, that is delivered 24 hours a day by highly trained professionals who serve with excellence, dedication and pride.
We are proud of our department and pride ourselves in staying ahead of the changes in technology that impact us on a daily basis. KFD operates out of two fire stations, Central station located on Vernon St. and Station Two located on Hastings Ave in West Keene. Central station houses 10 pieces of apparatus including two engines, two ambulances, two brush trucks, one ladder, tanker, rescue, rescue boat, along with two HAZMAT trailers a utility truck, fire prevention truck, and three Chief officer Cars.
Station two houses, one quint, ambulance, brush truck and the fire alarm truck. KFD provides fire and rescue services from these two stations to the City of Keene, the Town of Roxbury and the North Swanzey section of the Town of Swanzey. We also provide advanced life support service to surrounding towns and Hazmat response to a three county area.
