The mission of Kent Gardens Elementary School is to develop and implement instructional programs that meet the needs of all learners. Staff members view youngsters developmentally and holistically. Equally as important as intellectual stimulation are social-emotional and appropriate physical development. Effective parent involvement is a focus.

Three major school objectives have been identified by the Kent Gardens family. They are: (1) to improve student achievement in language arts with an emphasis on sentence development for primary grades and proofreading for upper grades; (2) to improve the mathematics achievement of students in mental mathematics, estimation, applied problem solving, and data analysis; and (3) to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the communication of students and teachers through the use of innovative technology. The goals reflect a strong commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse population.

An intensive assessment program of pupils' progress is ongoing. Students' performance is at a commendable level due partially to the instructional staff members' skills in the application of learning styles knowledge. Other programs not listed under unique programs include: innovative model summer school program emphasizing science, math, the arts, and technology where only teachers with these areas of expertise are hired; after-school Hands-On Science program and foreign language program; after-school basketball program; after-school academy with class offerings ranging from math and science enrichment to literary writing and art appreciation. Parent involvement and teacher commitment provide the foundation for success.

Kent Gardens Elementary School's mission is to develop and implement an integrated instructional program which meets the needs of our diverse student population. The staff helps students by creating high expectations for academic and physical development, as well as personal and interpersonal behaviors. Students are prepared to compete in the larger local, state, national, and international arenas. Kent Gardens is a multiple intelligence focus school dedicated to providing each student with instructional experience designed to develop the full spectrum of intelligences and the various dimensions of his or her critical and creative thinking. Technology has become an integral part of this arena, and students must be able to use it effectively, not only as a source of information, but as a tool for their learning
