The Kenwood School District is a one-school district, with an accompanying preschool and after school center located adjacent to the elementary school campus. Our current enrollment in grades K-6 is 148 students. We have one class for each grade level, as well as a specifically designed multigrade classroom of fifth/sixth graders. Each class averages less than 19 students per room. In addition to our outstanding, dedicated teaching staff, all classrooms are supported by an instructional aide, who assists the teacher and works with small groups of students during focused instructional time.
A resource teacher/licensed counselor, librarian, reading specialist, art specialist, music specialist, physical education specialist, computer specialist, and yoga instructor support our educational program. All students in grades K-6 learn elementary Spanish from our district's Spanish instructor. Kenwood School utilizes a speech and language specialist, nurse and psychologist in collaboration with a neighboring school district. To find out more about our educational program, please follow the links to the left.
Our school offers a rigorous, developmentally appropriate curriculum that offers a multitude of opportunities for children to be successful and actively engaged in their learning. The Character Counts in Kenwood program is built around monthly Character Education themes (Teamwork, Integrity, Honesty, etc.), which are defined and modeled for the students through our school-wide assemblies.
As a public school that is situated in a beautiful and peaceful country setting in Sonoma County, our unparalleled small class sizes and high achievement in standardized tests continue to draw the interest of families who are looking for the most comprehensive educational program for their preschool and elementary school age children. Kenwood School's tradition of academic excellence and personal connection with each child attracts families from throughout Sonoma County who choose to bring their children to Kenwood as interdistrict transfer students. Among our 148 students who are currently enrolled, 48 of our students reside outside of the Kenwood School District boundaries.
