The Kirksville church traces its history back to 1915 when the church was started in Novinger after a gospel meeting with a Bro. Hogan. Paul G. Hickman of Worthington frequently preached. The church was begun during World War I and relocated (even the building was moved) to Kirksville during World War II.

The Fillmore Street property was purchased in Nov. 1941 with Frank Wortham, Albert Peebles, and O.M. Blackorby recorded as trustees. According to the Missouri Mission Messenger, the move to Kirksville was initiated by Frank and Josephine Wortham. Bro. Wortham, an osteopathic medical student, spearheaded the building fund "and principally from the south obtained enough money to begin a modest building program."

In April 1953 the building burned, and the members met at the gym in the Washington School on Harrison Street. The building was rebuilt primarily by the men of the congregation and was available for use in December 1953. The elders of the congregation during this time were O.M. Blackorby and Arthur Gingerich. Cecil Jerome and Leo (Bud) Louder served as deacons. In the late 1980s through the mid-1990s, the church was significantly aided by Evangelist Louis Garbi.

In Nov. 1999 a tract of 3.6 acres was purchased on Pfeiffer Ave., near Hwy. 11. A new meeting house was erected, debt-free, in 2004. The first Sunday service was held Dec. 26, 2004. A sizable storage shed was added in 2005. A gravel overflow parking lot was constructed in fall 2007.
