In 1923 the population of Huntington Park, California, USA was approximately 24,000. The newly formed Rotary and Lions clubs were the only service clubs in Huntington Park. Although the club was formed in December 1923 the club charter was not presented until February the following year. On February 29, 1924 a party was held at the American Legion Hall. Each year since an anniversary celebration is held on a date as close as possible to February 29. Through the growth years club membership peaked at just over one hundred fifty members. Notwithstanding membership strength the Kiwanis Club of Huntington Park is and always has been a strong Kiwanis Club. The club has been recognized three times at the International level and many times at the District level (California, Nevada, Hawaii).
