The Kiwanis Club of Mitchellville, Inc. was founded in May 1995 and Incorporated in March 1996. The club began with 70 members who serve the community in various professions and occupations and has continued to grow over the years. The strength of the Club's service was and still is enhanced by several husband/wife members, retirees who devote time to volunteer service and by other members whose jobs permit networking with corporations and governmental agencies.

The Mitchellville Kiwanis Club has sought to establish close links with the community, in order to serve the Prince Georges' County community to the fullest. We have strived to accomplish this by bringing in an array of speakers ranging from local entrepreneurs to political leaders and establishing ties with the heads of educational institutions. Over the years, the club has held many fund-raisers, including a gift-wrapping concession in one of the nearby malls in December, before Christmas, the St. Mary's Car Raffle, and other events to raise funds for our service projects. We help out in the community in a variety of ways, including sponsoring youth groups, renovation/clean-up projects, raising money to benefit children and children’s support groups, giving back to the homeless by walking in the annual Help the Homeless Walkathon, and providing scholarships through our Annual Prayer Breakfast. The club has enjoyed a rich history over the years, and looks forward to continuing the tradition by expanding and enriching our club even more.
