Lexington Historical Society, which is responsible for acquiring, maintaining and preserving the significant historical landmarks, artifacts and archival material of this historic town. The activities of the society are supported by its members, visitors, donations and bequests from individuals and institutions.
Lexington burst onto the American historic scene on April 19, 1775 when the first confrontation between the British regulars and the local Minute Men took place to begin the American Revolution. Names like Adams, Hancock, Revere, Parker and Munroe - and others not so well known - are all part of that historic event.
