The Lincoln County School District is rural, community-based school system that merges available resources to provide a sound education for all students. School system staff believe that all students can learn if provided adequate time and resources. A high percentage of professional staff (60%) hold a Master's Degree or higher and are experienced, seasoned educators. Many teachers and principals have taken advantage of numerous staff development opportunities to support student achievement.
The seven elementary schools operate ESEA Title 1 Schoolwide Programs, which ensure extra staff and resources so that no child is left behind; numerous additional programs and grants also provide extra academic opportunities and support. The four secondary schools are implementing the Effective Schools Program, based on the seven effective schools correlates that focus on school reform.
A new consolidated county high school will be operational in 2006/2007. At that time, the county school system will be organized into an Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, and Adolescent Education structure.
