History
Lomita Magnet School opened in February, 1978: It has a rich history, the school site dates back to 1909. Originally established as a fundamental magnet school, it changed its focus to a math/science magnet school in 1995.
It is the only multi-track, year-round magnet school. in the Los Angeles Unified School District serving grade one through five students. Students are assigned to one of four tracks, and attend school on a rotation calendar of 90/30: ninety days in school and thirty days of vacation. This schedule affords maximum year-round use of our building, seasonal vacations for all students and minimal time periods away from school.
