Mission Statement

The mission of the Lowell Community Charter Public School is to prepare a diverse cross section of children for high academic achievement by providing a supportive, challenging, multicultural environment that integrates the strengths of Lowell’s diverse communities and cultures.

The school’s highest priority is the promotion of academic success for all students in each of the areas addressed by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks including: English, Reading and Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Health and Fitness, World Languages, Art and Music, as well as Character and Ethics. The Lowell Community Charter Public School places special emphasis on the contributions that immigrants have made to American life, and to Lowell’s development over the years, and on the culture, language, and history of the Southeast Asian and Latino peoples who constitute a substantial portion of Lowell’s present-day population.

Purpose

The purpose of The Lowell Community Charter Public School is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that will stimulate them to achieve academic excellence and promote understanding and respect for their own culture and the cultures and opinions of others. Teachers at LCCPS help students identify and develop their interests and abilities by providing a program of studies and counseling, as well as a range of activities that will help them achieve their individual goals. Teachers will provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages students to become independent, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners.

The Beliefs which guide our practice

     - Every child can learn.

      - Each child is unique and has special abilities and interests that must be recognized, encouraged, and developed.

      - The home, school, and community are responsible for the education of all children. Parents play a major role in their children’s education by setting values and expectations that support the learning process.

      - Teachers have the right to teach and students have the right to learn in a safe and nurturing environment.

      - The role of the teacher is to engage every student in learning.

      - Academics are the primary focus of education. In addition to academics, athletics and enrichment activities are essential for a complete education.

      - Education occurs when students take responsibility for their own learning and for their own personal conduct.

      - Realizing that learning is a lifelong process is essential if children are to be productive and responsible participants in a diverse and changing world.

      - A community thrives when individuals contribute to the wellbeing of others.

      - Integrity, respect and cooperation are essential in building trusting relationships.

      - Our community is strengthened and enriched by its diversity.
