The Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer is an orthodox, confessional Lutheran congregation. We are members of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
Our Redeemer is a small congregation with a membership that deeply appreciates the pure Word of God and the Sacraments administered as Christ intended.
Housed in a pre-civil war era mansion, our sanctuary is nicely appointed with fine woods, exceptional stained-glass, and other Christian art. The liturgy and hymns are sung to the accompaniment of a pipe organ.
The congregation uses The Lutheran Hymnal of 1941 for both its hymns and its liturgy. It is very important to us that we use and maintain the historic Lutheran forms of worship in this age of change and decay.
If we had a motto it would be, "Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord" (Colossians 3:16).
The focus, therefore, of our life together is worship and scripture study. Whatever else we do, our main thrust is centered in the Word and Sacraments.
Our Redeemer is also an outreaching congregation. In order to spread the Word of the Lord, we maintain the website you are now exploring, we produce a weekly cable Television program entitled "Word & Witness", and we distribute evangelical tracts through a neighborhood mailing program.
While making use of modern technology, we very consciously maintain a close connection with our historic Lutheran Christian heritage. We want to preach the ever new Gospel to today's world, but we also want to remain "your grandfather's church".
