Twenty eight residents of Lyndon met at the Congregational Church on
For several years, the Society met in the Congregational Church, but had no location to call its own, and in which to display and store historical items. Then in 1986, the Church made the decision to resolute with the Congregational Church in Prophetstown. With this decision, the trustees of the church offered the building, contents and property to the Historical Society as a permanent home, to preserve the building as a historical site and providing a museum in which the society could collect, store and display its growing collection of items detailing Lyndon's past.
During the intervening years, the Society has grown, has held Open House during the Crow Festival in June, and an Open House and Christmas Tea in December. At these meetings many varied and interesting programs have been presented. The Society has been receiving historical materials frequently throughout the years, and welcomes any items which relate to the history of Lyndon.
