The Music Music Chest was established in 1933 with the mission of bringing the worlds' greatest musical artists to Marin (noted MGM star Nelson Eddy performed in 1934), making it possible for thousands of residents to enjoy outdoor performances at Forest Meadows for an admission fee of a mere 25 cents. Later, the Music Chest established an annual music scholarship program for  young, talented Marin County musicians. After more than forty years of presenting concerts, the Marin Music Chest made the scholarship program its primary mission, providing financial support to promising students of classical music; and when possible, to assist other non-profit organizations with similar goals.
