Mission
The mission of Marshall Public Schools is to educate and empower every student, every chance, every day.
About
The first school was built in 1849-50 for $250 on South Odell. Controversy existed into the 1870’s over whether elementary education was a function of the church or state. The court house burned during the Civil War in 1864, so there is very little factual school information that exists before this time.
In 1881, Benton School was the first school where students 1st through 8th grade attended. There were a few high school classes offered as well.
